The Performance Art: A Place of Wealth

If you are a graduate of Theatre and Film Studies or any of the performing arts, but you left all the Play writing, modelling, acting, makeup, fashion and design, film making, singing, dancing, costume design, lighting, sound, story creation, screen play writing, and any other form of art for other people...u know what I mean, then in your next world, I suggest u set your priorities right.

Please don't take this personal, thinking I wrote it because for you or someone else.

Truth is, there are some fields of study that dictate where a person is "expected" to work after studies. For example, doctors:hospitals, accounting/banking n finance/business management, etc:banks n other corporate organizations, engineering:oil, construction,,etc. You get me?

I remember way back when in school, people will say "theatre is all about play, you people only go to play, sing and dance." Then, I will spend the next couple of minutes trying to defend my art. Its just amazing that now, everyone is talking about learning a skill...and I can't stop to wonder, what happened to all our degrees?
That is a good question to ask, considering that a huge percentage of the population of youths in Nigeria are jobless! By jobless, I am directing this comment basically to graduates loitering the streets and blaming government and the economy for their problems.

Nigerian youths, we are the leaders of tomorrow. This is a time for change. Gone are the days when we sit back and rant about what our country can do for us, hello...if your country does not do something, will you decide/choose to be broke? WE have to grab the bull by the horn! Let us stop sitting and waiting! Let us stop wining and wallowing in self-pity! Let us stop blaming witches and wizards or the people in the village...even if say na witch, THERE IS GOD OOOOO!

This is why I am inspired by some of my colleagues from school:
# Agozie Uzo Ugwu who runs a theatre company/troop.
Agozie Ugwu's Mosaic Theatre Troupe

Osigwe Tobenna
# Christopher Olisakwe who is an excellent artist.
# NgoziOnuchukwu my fellow blogger, a playwright and producer.
# My lecturer, Professor Emeka Nwabuezeze who has featured in some movies.
# Rita Dominic a celebrity actress.
# Tobenna Osigwewe, a writer.
# Dave Sucre, the only Nigerian(so I heard) among the makeup artists for this year's New York Fashion Week and a one time Best Make Up Artist of the year in Nigeria.

U guys rock and are such an inspiration. U didn't wait for government. Or you waited, but when nothing showed up, you found something in you and used it.

There are many more out there which I may not know about...kudos!
I encourage every unemployed youth out there, look for your place in the society. Look for a need to meet, or a hobby and create employment out of it.
God is interested in gain! You have to produce results with the gifts He has deposited in you.

As for theatre artists, well if you chose another path, so long as you are making it and you find fulfilment in what you do, good for you. However, if not, you've got to find your place. Theatre is a broad field of study, the knowledge you have makes you efficient and relevant in many organizations. Let's not dull ourselves pleeeeeeeeeeease!

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Replies To The Media War On His Marriage

Who would want to ruin this except the devil?
Pastor Chris finally replies to the media war on his marriage during the 'Question and Answer' session of the September 2014, Communion Service. He says,

"...if a man of God is married, it doesn't mean that the wife of the man of God is therefore a woman of God. That is not the way it is in the bible.
That is why you don't really find the wives of the men of God mentioned in the bible. Who was Peter's wife, did you hear of her name? Who was John's wife, ever heard of her name? What about other apostles, how many of their wives names were written in the bible? Ever found their names? Why? Ask God when you see him.

So they are little things, don't try to make something big out of them. We are journeying in life, doing the things God has asked us to do.

Christians should not have a divorce, it shouldn't be. That doesn't mean a Christian may not take the step, but it doesn't make it right. We shouldn't take one another to court, but when it happens, even though we didn't want to go there and someone is taking us there. then that's the problem.

Be wise and stay focused on the word of God. Don't let those who want to feast on this, including Christians. You know there are many Christians who like to make something big out of things like this. They'll say, "Yea yea yea yea, we said it"..."You said what?" Pastor retorted..Hahaha.

Be wise. It's our month for More Grace. We will be strengthened by the Lord for a greater future than ever before.

I tell people, our future is greater than our past. Think of what is in front of you. Think about how the Spirit is moving you on. We are moving by the speed of the Spirit and this world has never seen what it is about to see."

For me...he has said it all!

More grace to you Pastor! Keep doing God's work. He will not forsake you!
