Hello people!!! So I finally decided to break the ice and
state my point of view on this divorce brouhaha that has rocked the home of one
of the most popular and celebrated pastor ever! Well, he is my
pastor if you must know.
Few months back, I started hearing rumors that Pastor Chris
Oyakhilome was having issues with his wife. Usually when any negative news
about Christ Embassy hits the public (TV, internet, etc) friends and family
that know it is my church begin to call and ping me to find out if it is true
or not, or better still hear my take on the subject of discussion. Thank God
for this platform for me to share my thoughts with as many people as possible.
Anyway, I heard Pastor Anita filed for divorce on the
grounds of adultery, negligence, etc. well, if that’s the case…who can blame
her, it is just terrible that the husband in question is a public figure and
this whole deal will affect “them”. However, I will be addressing different
groups of people today on this post. Follow me…
THE JUDGES
I know many people expect Christian leaders and their family
members to live a godly life, one without blemish before God and man. Well,
this family, going through this is definitely a Christian one, but they are not
Jesus Christ the son of God, they are human beings like every other person
living on this earth and stuff happen in their home like that of every other
family on earth. It is amazing how we like to poke our noses into the family
drama of other people, when some of your families are nothing to write home
about. The bible says, "…remove the log of wood in your eyes before you remove
the spec of wood in another person’s eye."
Many people are fast to point fingers, especially at Pastor
Chris, calling him names and feeling like finally they have a confirmation to
the fact that he is whatever they dim fit to call him. The truth of the matter
is, as the Pastor himself will say, "whatsoever you do in life, it doesn’t
matter what the world thinks. The only thing that counts is what God thinks." Trust me when I say this, the news the media
carries about this Pator Chris, his family or ministry does not move him…I just
feel terrible for their kids though. I don’t care what he has/has not done, I
am not God over his life and neither are we judge over him, "whosoever judges
shall be judged also!"
Furthermore, when the bible says in Isaiah 54:17, “no weapon that is fashioned against thee shall prosper and every tongue that rises against thee in judgment
shall be condemned. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their
righteousness is of me saith the Lord.” Note the bold words. ‘weapon’ in the
scripture above include media and judgmental weapons…so beware of the kind of
propaganda you said you spread against ministers of God!
PASTOR AND HIS FAMILY
Myles Munroe said God doesn’t condemn or hate divorce, but
he hates what it does to you and that’s how I feel about this whole thing. I
refuse to accept this. I pray that God grants you the grace to work things out
and come out triumphant. I love Pastor Chris and Anita Oyakhilome. I look
forward to seeing more of that hug you (Pastor Chris) gave your wife during
IPPC last year or there about…when you said you perceive our thoughts each time
she works up on stage…that was soooo hilarious. I also look forward to (the
possibility of) Pastor Anita and your daughters moving to Nigeria to live with
you…remember, Judges 4:4 “Deborah. A prophetess, the wife of lappidoth…judged
Isreal.” Point is, she fulfilled all the roles in the ministry, family and at
work respectively. I believe that our pastors, ministers, gospel artist, evangelists, etc should reconcile their lives with this scripture.
FRIENDS
This is the time to be a friend that sticks closer than a
brother/sister. No matter what truth you know, if you are for the divorce and
your marriage is still intact...God is watching you!
THE MEMBERS OF CE
Hello family…well, I know. I say I know because I have
spoken one on one with some brethren in the house and heard their point of view
on this subject. While some of you are discouraged, some are disappointed (at
P. Chris…others at P. Anita), some are biased and others indifferent.
If we can go back to the bible and the word, as we have
learnt over the years from our MOG, we know that “we are not governed by our feelings,
rather by the word of God in our spirit.” So here we are, with this awareness
of what the news has said concerning our dear Pastor’s family, what have we
done so far and what are we doing now? Have we joined the chariot of those who
don’t comprehend our ways, who don’t have our soronesis…who don’t ‘compare spiritual things with the spiritual’
to talk all manner of nonsense? Whatever you say or think, remember the
scripture that says, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.” ‘touch’
in that scripture isn’t only when you carry a gun to shoot someone or cutlass
to cut off his head, even your hurtful and ignorant words are weapons too. Let
us be wiser than the world.
Furthermore, the bible encourages us to pray for our leaders
and those in positions of power. Many times we pray for our MOG, but for the
anointing to increase upon his life, so that there will be plenty miracles at
the healing school, for many souls to be won during one conference or the
other, but I’ve hardly heard stuff like, “pray for Pastor Chris, that peace and
prosperity remain in his home, that his family is preserved even as he has
devoted his life to the work of the ministry, that the wisdom of God works in
him to be excellent in everything (which includes being a good Pastor, father,
husband, boss, friend, business man, etc)”
Hence, I encourage you my friends, this is the time to get
on our knees on behalf of our MOG and his family, he needs all the ‘Mighty Men’
he can now.
Cheers Y’all! The word works!
